Registration is now open for the first-ever city-sponsored "Remembrance Ruck" to honor New York city's veteran and military community.
A ruck involves walking or hiking with a weighted backpack or vest.
The inaugural event is scheduled for Sept. 13 at 9 a.m. at Cadman Plaza.
Walkers will cross the Brooklyn Bridge and end at a resource fair at Foley Square in Manhattan.
The free event is open to everyone.
