Brooklyn man charged after 2 Palisades Park officers injured during arrest
Police say the 34-year-old resisted arrest during a suspected drunken-driving stop on Route 46.

A Brooklyn man is facing charges after police say he resisted arrest and injured two Palisades Park officers during a suspected drunken-driving stop.
Police said Patrol Detective Robert Then spotted a red Chevrolet Camaro speeding on Route 46 East near Abbott Avenue shortly before midnight Friday.
The driver, identified as 34-year-old Edwin G. Sisalema-Guananga, got out of the car after Then pulled him over, according to police. Police said Sisalema-Guananga appeared intoxicated, refused officers' commands and became aggressive toward officers.
Police said a struggle followed as officers tried to arrest him. Then and Officer Julio Mancilla suffered minor injuries and were treated at the scene. Neither required hospitalization.
Sisalema-Guananga also repeatedly gave officers false information about his identity, police said.
He was charged with resisting arrest causing injury to an officer, hindering apprehension and obstructing the administration of law. He also received several traffic summonses, including for driving while intoxicated, refusing to submit to a breath test, careless driving and driving without a license.
Sisalema-Guananga was released pending a Sept. 14 appearance in Bergen County Superior Court.
