NYPD Special Victim's unit investigates attack inside Prospect Park, sources say

Police sources say the NYPD's Special Victims Unit is investigating after a woman was attacked inside Prospect Park.

It happened just before 10 p.m. on Wednesday near 101 East Drive.

According to police, a man walked up to the victim and tried to start a conversation with her before he grabbed her from behind and assaulted her.

The NYPD says the man ran away after the attack. He is around 6 feet, 2 inches tall and was last seen wearing a hat and a T-Shirt.

According to investigators, the woman suffered minor injuries and turned down medical attention.

It was not immediately known if any weapons were involved. Police have not publicly classified the assault as sexual in nature.
