Cool, comfortable autumnal air spills over from upstate New York tonight. Saturday is nice but breezy, so temperatures are cool statewide. Soaking rains are expected Sunday.

FORECAST:

The weather is quiet and cool for the first part of the weekend. Cooler, drier air from Canada will bring a nice autumnal feel tonight and tomorrow.

A series of storms will traipse through the state starting on Sunday and possibly linger until late next week. This will be an evolving weather situation, so check back with the News 12 Storm Watch team for updates throughout the weekend.

Tonight is clear to partly cloudy. The air is becoming less humid. The breeze is picking up from the north, driving in that crisp upstate air. Some spots in northwest New Jersey could wake up with morning lows in the 40s!

Saturday starts with ample sunshine. Fair weather is to our north, so as it continues to move across upstate New York into New England, the winds will be off the ocean and breezy most of the day. The influence of the ocean will keep air temps tomorrow a solid 5 to 10 degrees cooler than normal.

Sunday is a mess. No way around it. The majority of the consistent, soaking rains look to happen mid-morning and continue until dinner time. It's likely some of the stronger cells that march in could contain copious amounts of rain. Should the rain fall in a short period of time, flooding will be a concern.
