Residents seek help for buck entangled in debris in Midland Park

A community in Midland Park is hoping wildlife professionals can assist a buck that residents say has been walking around with debris tightly wrapped around one of its antlers for about a week.
Residents have been sharing photos of the deer to raise awareness and find someone qualified to safely rescue the animal.
In the photos, the buck appears to have a pole and what looks like red fabric or netting tangled around one of its antlers.
Residents told News 12 New Jersey they have contacted police, wildlife organizations and other agencies in hopes of finding someone with the proper expertise and equipment to help.
So far, residents said they have been unable to find anyone who can safely intervene.
Midland Park police said they have received calls about the deer for the past two weeks. For every report, police contact animal control, which says it cannot respond unless the deer can be contained.
Police said they are updating the state game warden’s office so officials can establish a pattern and properly track the animal before responding.
The community continues to monitor the deer and share sightings as residents hope a qualified wildlife professional can safely free the animal.
