While repair work inches along to fix a flood-battered Bridgeport apartment complex, people who live there are continuing to demand answers.

News 12 has previously reported on the struggles at the apartment complex for the past few weeks.

As News 12 reported, they didn’t have power or hot water for days after the major flood back on Sept. 13.

The City of Bridgeport eventually provided the building with multiple generators to partially help keep the lights on.

There’s also now a mobile boiler on site so residents can have access to some hot water.

But people who live there say the short-term fixes aren’t enough.

Multiple residents of the Cartright Towers attended a flood mitigation meeting inside Fairfield Woods Branch Library Thursday night.

Pauline Baker, who lives on the fourth floor, was one of the residents in attendance.

She claims building management hasn’t communicated relevant repair updates in a timely manner.

Baker says that's left residents feeling extremely anxious on top of the quality of life issues they’re already being forced to deal with.

"We don't know what's going to happen next," Baker says. "Whether we're going to have to throw our food out if the electrical goes out, or get stuck in an elevator, or have someone walk down those stairs if the lights go off again and break their necks."

Keith Bradley helped organized Thursday night's meeting.

He says he's hopeful that the flooding problem along the Rooster River can be fixed.

"We want to be where we have all the tools we possibly can to control the flooding as much as we possibly can," before this next rain bomb that we know is coming... before it gets here," says Bradley.

Fairfield First Selectperson Christine Vitale also attended the meeting.
