The city is moving forward with plans to make one of the most dangerous corridors in Bath Beach safer for pedestrians.

Crews are now working on a redesign of Bay Parkway and Cropsey Avenue that will add new bus lanes. The plan includes 18 new median islands and changes to left turns at several intersections to make crossing the streets easier.

The city says the goal of the redesign is to make buses move faster, while also making it safer for people to cross these busy streets.

But some residents worry the redesign could create new problems, pointing to concerns raised along Flatbush Avenue after bus lanes were added there.

The Department of Transportation says work on Flatbush Avenue is still active and temporary traffic patterns are in place while construction continues, so it's too early to judge the final impact.
