The FDNY says a manhole fire in Flatbush on Sunday prompted the evacuation of a nearby building after emergency responders detected elevated carbon monoxide levels.

It happened just after 1 p.m. in front of 2020 Cortelyou Road, a building that houses Futa Islamic Center and
Ditmas Park Medical Care.

Those inside 2020 Cortelyou Road were evacuated, according to fire officials.

Citizen app footage shows thick, black smoke billowing from the underground fire in front of the building.

Con Edison says it responded to the scene.

News 12 followed up with Con Ed and the FDNY for updates and is awaiting a response as of Sunday evening.

It was not immediately known if anyone was injured during the incident.
