Police are asking for the public's help after a man was critically injured in a violent attack at a Bridgeport park.
Authorities say the victim was struck in the head with a rock around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at B.J. Brown Park near Center Street Extension and Madison Avenue.
Officers arriving at the scene found the unidentified man unresponsive and covered in blood beneath a bicycle rack overhang. Investigators say a bloody rock was found next to him.
The victim was taken to St. Vincent's Medical Center with a severe head injury. Detectives believe the man is likely homeless and may have been sleeping when he was attacked.
Police say the victim is Hispanic, has a medium build and appears to be in his late 30s or early 40s. His identity remains unknown.
The attack comes days after rocks and boulders were thrown at a homeless encampment in Milford. Bridgeport police are now working to identify the person responsible for the assault.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Kevin Cronin at 203-581-5292.
