Gov. Kathy Hochul signed a new bill to increase personal tax credit for volunteer firefighters and ambulance workers.
The bill signing took place Saturday in Nassau County with the Village of Hempstead Fire Department.
The bill increases the state's tax credit from $200 to $800 and will increase from $400 to $1,600 for married couples.
The new credit went into effect immediately.
