A woman is facing a slew of charges for two alleged attacks in Manhattan and the NYPD says its Hate Crimes Task Force is investigating.
Anna Mochalova, 32, of Brooklyn, is accused of stabbing a 26-year-old Hasidic Jewish man on Wednesday in Manhattan’s Diamond District. Just two hours earlier, police say she allegedly attacked another man.
Investigators say the 26-year-old was stabbed in the back just before 6 p.m. in front of 15 West 47 St.
Paramedics took him to NYC Health and Hospitals/Bellevue. Detectives say he is expected to recover physically.
"I can confirm the victim is a young man from Crown Heights whose family has deep roots in the neighborhood and is part of the Lubavitch community," said Yaacov Behrman, a liaison for Chabad Headquarters in Crown Heights. "We appreciate law enforcement's response. I understand they have a suspect in custody."
According to police, at around 4 p.m., Mochalova allegedly intentionally bumped into a 37-year-old man at West 45th St. and Avenue of the Americas.
Detectives say when the victim confronted Mochalova, she struck him with a sharp object.
The 37-year-old suffered a laceration to the forearm, according to the NYPD. Police say he turned down medical attention.
Mochalova, of Brighton Beach, was arrested at around 6:30 p.m. Friday, according to police.
She is charged with eight counts of assault, eight counts of menacing, two counts of aggravated harassment and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon.
The NYPD Hate Crime Task Force's investigation into both incidents remains ongoing.
