An MTA station agent has died more than a year after being attacked while on the job.
News 12 previously reported that MTA station agent Marshalee Reid was attacked after confronting two women with a small child who did not pay the fare.
Police say 24-year-old Ayizhae Thomas and 25-year-old Lashea Aldride attacked Reid after she confronted them.
At the time of the attack, Reid had already been recovering from a brain surgery. TWU Local 100 tells News 12 Reid recently underwent another brain surgery and died on Oct. 25 at the age of 52.
“We were devastated. I literally froze. Couldn't speak for days on the subject," said Nicolette Browne, division chair of TWU's Stations Department.
The trial for Reid's accused attackers was set to begin on Wednesday. Prosecutors have postponed the trial to review medical records and investigate whether there is any link between the attack and Reid's death.
Browne says Reid was a mother and grandmother.
“We are seeking justice for the assault she suffered and a full and thorough review of the facts," said Browne.
The Brooklyn District Attorney's Office says that the investigation will determine if the charges need to be upgraded.
