Shelter officials rescued a German Shepard and 21 puppies living inside a car in the Bronx.
The dogs were rescued this week from an SUV in Throgs Neck.
Officials with the Adore-A-Bullie Paws and Claws animal shelter say the dogs were living inside the SUV with a homeless woman who is believed to be mentally ill.
The dogs are all expected to be OK, although one was discovered to have suffered from blood loss.
A Long Island shelter has taken half the dogs, and they are all available for adoption.
