A pilot program for 24/7 vaccinations has come to an end for the time being at both Yankee Stadium and the Javits Center in New York City.

The 24-hour appointment slots were always a planned pilot program, according to the state Department of Health.

The overnight appointments ended at Yankee Stadium Wednesday night into Thursday morning last week, and the Javits Center Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.

The New York state Department of Health said in a statement, "We are committed to using all vaccine doses as efficiently as possible to vaccinate as many New Yorkers as quickly as possible. The 24/7 pilot program at Javits, along with Yankee Stadium and the state fair site in Syracuse, ended last week as planned, and we continue to expand capacity at the site to prepare for the expected increase in doses. More than 180,000 shots have been administered at Javits, and we will continue to expand operations as vaccine supply allows."

Mayor Bill de Blasio said the issue is the vaccine supply and added that if the city had an abundant number of doses they would continue with distribution around the clock.

Residents can still make an appointment for during the day at both sites.
