A 27-year-old man is in stable condition after being shot in Crown Heights Wednesday.

According to emergency officials, the man was shot in the chest on St. Marks Avenue near the Albany Houses around 8 a.m.

They say he was transported to Kings County Hospital where he is in stable condition.

A deli owner on the avenue says the victim ran inside his store and shouted for employees that he had been shot and to call 911 and his mother. Employees say they thought he was joking until he collapsed outside the store.

Police say no arrests have been made.
