An early morning robbery turned violent in East New York, leaving an unidentified 45-year-old man hospitalized with multiple stab wounds to his head and body, police officials tell News 12.

According to the police, officers responded to a call just after 1 a.m. on Oct. 27 at 371 Van Siclen Ave., where they found the victim critically injured. Investigators say the man was surrounded by three unidentified attackers, who stabbed him several times before taking off with his jacket, backpack, watch and cellphone.

“It’s a shame that you live in the neighborhood, and they’re robbing you in your own neighborhood,” said local resident Eddie, who lives nearby.

Neighbors say they were shaken by the attack. “It was kind of crazy. It’s terrible that you have to live a life like this,” said Yvone Hennegan, another East New York resident.

Police say the victim was rushed to Brookdale Hospital Medical Center in critical condition. His attackers were last seen running down Sutter Avenue before entering the subway.

“Listen, anything is possible in East New York,” Eddie added.

Officials now say the victim has been upgraded to stable condition and is expected to be released from the hospital soon.

As of now, no arrests have been made. Police are urging anyone with information to contact the NYPD Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS.
