The race for New York City mayor is heating up on the last day of early voting.

In-person early voters turned out in record numbers, with over 300,000 cast ballots as of Sunday morning, according to the New York City Board of Elections. It surpassed the previous record in 2021 by just over 50%.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo is leading the pack in the polls with Assembly Member Zohran Mamdani in second.

Voters are selecting their choice for mayor, borough president, comptroller, public advocate, civil court and City Council.

“The earlier the better,” said one voter from Soundview. “There’s less crowds, confusion and whatnot…It’s important everyone get out and vote. Don’t complain if you don’t vote.”

The general primary election is Tuesday, June 24.
