The city's new 311 service for public school families is up and running with specially trained operators.
City officials say the operators are taking calls on any education-related questions. In the past, callers had to know a specific Department of Education hotline to get their concerns addressed.
"With one number fielding every school-related inquiry, we can make sure parents receive the same consistent service and information," Mayor Michael Bloomberg says.
