Dozens of suspected drug dealers and gun traffickers have been taken off the streets of Bedford-Stuyvesant after a yearlong investigation, Brooklyn District Attorney Ken Thompson said Thursday.
Thompson announced indictments against 32 defendants accused of selling everything from guns to crack-cocaine and heroin on the streets of Bed-Stuy.
The investigation started last year after Taylonni Mayzack, 11, was caught in the crossfire between rival gangs on Gates Avenue. Mayzack was paralyzed, enraging the community and the officers who responded.
Many of those arrested are reported to be part of a gang called Gates Avenue Mafia, Thompson said.
