Hundreds of mermaids and sea creatures made their way to Brooklyn Saturday to celebrate the 32nd Annual Coney Island Mermaid Parade.
Some 1,500 sea creatures, pirates and of course mermaids roamed the borough's streets throughout the day, and will continue to do so for the rest of the weekend.
One of the most exciting parts of the parade for spectators was cheering on Mayor Bill de Blasio's kids in their roles as King Neptune and Queen Mermaid.
The parade almost did not take place last year after a budget shortfall due to Superstorm Sandy. Diehard supporters say they will always do whatever it takes to make it their favorite day happen.
