Farmingdale Pride returns with plenty of energy of love and support

There was plenty of rainbows, smiles and love on display at Farmingdale’s 35th Long Island Pride parade.
The festivities had been canceled the past two years because of the pandemic, but its return came with overwhelming energy of love and support.
Organizer David Kilmnick, from the LGBT Network, says he hopes this will be a positive example across the nation.
“With everything going on in the country right now with this anti-LGBT hate and anti-LGBT legislation, we showed as a strong force we are going to be together as one,” says Kilmnick.
Farmingdale resident Clare Pfeifer says she’s proud of how well downtown businesses in the village have embraced the LGBTQ community and “celebrating love is love.”
Kilmnick says at least 10,000 people were expected to be in attendance in downtown Farmingdale.
The Long Island Pride event is a celebration of the strides the LGBT network has made over the past three decades. The first time the organization tried to have an event, they had to go to court to win the right to march and be themselves on the streets of Huntington.
