The third annual PlantNic was held in Melrose on Sunday.
The nonprofit organization called Trybe hosted the event at the Sun, Wind, and Shade Oasis Garden. All food featured at the PlantNic was vegan and plant based.
The event started out as lunch for the organization's meetings but then grew into something fruitful.
"I just got the bright idea to turn that into an event where people bring plant-based vegan dishes. That's where PlantNic was born," said Trybe's Rome Simpson.
Event organizers call PlantNic a community contribution event because over the years, it became an event that isn't just about food that's being served but services as well. There are services available from hair braiders, barbers, and other goods and products are showcased as well.
"From 2021 to now, we engineered it to what we have here now, where we reach out to people who have a service [or] who provide a service for the community and ask them to contribute," Simpson explained.
Event organizers said the PlantNic started with a passion for a healthier lifestyle, and they plan to host more events in the future.
