Working from home, school distance learning, unemployment – there are many factors that can be causing stress in your life. Licensed acupuncturist Elizabeth Martin offers up four acupressure techniques you can try to ease some of that stress. (Remember to check with a physician before trying any new health regimens.)
According to Martin, there are certain points on the body that can help relieve stress, boost immunity and cope with anxiety or depression. Acupressure is similar to acupuncture, but you use your hand.
Martin suggests holding each point for five to 10 breaths. She recommends doing these daily for 15-20 minutes. Here are the points:
On the Head – on your forehead about an inch above your eyebrows in the center above your nose
On the Wrist – on the back of your wrist where you bend your hand, take four fingers and align them to the end of your wrist. The point where your pinky is, in the center of the outside of your arm.
The Actual Wrist – on the inside of your wrist, where the hand and wrist begin, in line with the pinky and ring finger.
Large Intestine Four – close your hand, the highest point of the crease on the back of the hand is where this point is found.
Besides acupressure, Martin also suggests talking to people, writing in a journal and keeping a routine.
