The newest graduating FDNY class is reflective of the growing diversity of the department.
The 286 graduates of 2014 are made up of 100 veterans of the armed forces. Forty-five percent of them identify themselves as people of color.
And for the first time, the class had four women. That is the most ever in an FDNY graduating class. Two of the women are from Brooklyn.
There are now a total of 41 women in the FDNY.
