Many Brooklyn men are participating in a community event Saturday that aims to inspire youth to stay out of trouble and look toward a bright future.
Nonprofit organization 500 Men Making a Difference is celebrating its fifth annual Men's Day at the Boys and Girls High School in Bedford-Stuyvesant.
The group says it is expecting about 600 men and children to come throughout the day. They will be spending their time working out together on the football field, organizing health screenings, having a barbecue and playing board games.
Wayne Devonish, the group's president, says their main goal is to inspire men to be mentors to the younger generation.
Devonish says the event has been a huge success for the past five years, and he hopes it will be a lasting tradition.
