Police say and 80-year-old woman and her adult son were found dead in a co-op apartment at 270 Jay St. in Brooklyn Wednesday.

Concord Village Owners Inc. management said neighbors reported smelling a foul odor coming from the mother’s apartment on the third floor.

Police were called to do a wellness check and found the woman and her 52-year-old son dead inside.

Police told property management that the mother's body was in the late stages of decomposition and possibly mummified.

News 12 has learned that the son dropped off money for his mother’s maintenance in September and had not been seen since.

A medical examiner will determine the cause of death.
