As New York holds its presidential primaries Tuesday, some Brooklyn residents will also vote in a special election for the state Assembly's 59th District.
Jaime Williams, a Democrat who was born in Trinidad and has lived in Brooklyn since 2003, squares off with Republican Jeffrey Ferretti, the owner of a Mill Basin real estate firm.
The district covers Canarsie, Georgetown, Mill Basin, Bergen Beach, Marine Park and part of Gerritsen Beach.
The seat opened when former Assemblywoman Roxanne Persaud became a state senator.
