Brooklyn sex assault victims mistakenly billed for their own rape examinations will be getting their money back.
Attorney General Barbara Underwood says six New York hospitals have agreed to repay the money that should have been billed to the state or insurers.
Some victims were charged as much as $3,000.
The hospitals, including Brooklyn Methodist Hospital and Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center, have agreed to enact new billing policies to ensure that victims don't get charged.
Each hospital will also pay a fine of up to $15,000.
