Police reported Thursday that the 68th precinct, which includes Bay Ridge, Dyker Heights and Fort Hamilton, was free of murders in all of 2008.
According to the deputy inspector, the department is the only precinct in Brooklyn to have no reported murders for the entire year. The department credits the good relationship between police officers and the residents in the communities for the lack of homicides.
Despite the good record, the precinct experienced a spike in burglaries and home invasions.
