A yearlong investigation by the NYPD and the Special Narcotics Prosecutor’s Office led to the arrest of seven people in connection to narcotics and gun trafficking.
Police say it was in the area of Schenectady and Sterling Place where undercover officers made several purchases of roughly 500 grams of cocaine and 20 guns - including 10 semi-automatic 9 mm handguns and four revolvers that were modified to be fully automatic. Some of the guns recovered were loaded with ammunition.
Authorities say 39-year-old Dwayne Seales is the alleged central figure of the organization and oversaw the network of sellers. He’s charged with selling 20 guns and more than a pound of narcotics to an undercover NYPD officer. The narcotics included crack-cocaine, fentanyl and fentanyl mixtures.
“This is precision policing at its finest,” said Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch at a press conference. “We are targeting small number of people driving violence in our neighborhoods. The people who deal drugs, traffic guns and put New Yorkers in harms way. We are holding them accountable.”
