What began as local celebrations, has grown into an official acknowledgment of women’s contributions, otherwise known as Women’s History Month.
The annual monthlong celebration highlights American women who’ve made groundbreaking contributions as well as uplifts women to help get through various issues that exist today.
Here are some ways you and your family can celebrate from home this year:
1. Get familiar with current women’s issues.
2. Read and share works by women authors. Check out these book ideas.
3. Donate to charities that center around women's causes. Here’s a list with many charities
4. Attend virtual events celebrating women. Click here for online exhibits hosted by The National Women’s History Museum.
5. Amplify women musicians.
6. Watch TV shows and films produced and directed by women. “I May Destroy You," “P-Valley,” and "The Half of It" are just a few to add to your watch list.
7. Watch documentaries that explore women's issues. One must-watch is “She’s Beautiful When She’s Angry,” which dissects the women’s liberation movement in the 1960s. Another is “The Death and Life of Marsha P. Johnson.”
