Over 100 fire and EMS personnel responded to a fire in Brownsville on Thursday.

FDNY says that the call came in around 5 a.m. for a fire on the first floor of a building on Lott Avenue.

Two people were seriously injured, while six people sustained minor injuries. All eight were taken to area hospitals for treatment.

One tenant told News12 she just moved into her apartment there in January, and now she’s left to start over.

A vacate order is in place. The American Red Cross is assisting the families that live in the building with housing for the next few days.

“I just can't believe this happened,” said one tenant. “I don't even know where I'm going to start from, to be honest. I’m still just in shock.”

While the cause of the fire is still under investigation, neighbors tell News 12 they believe it may have been a sparking outlet.
