An 8-year-old girl jumped from the balcony of the sixth floor of a burning building in Morrisania on Wednesday.
The fire department says a female was taken to Harlem Hospital in critical condition, but it is unclear if it's the child.
On video, people can be seen gathering to help the young girl after she jumped from the sixth floor of the 17-story high-rise. It seemed like she landed on the grass.
Those who helped the girl told News 12 she was breathing but broke both of her legs.
Fire marshals are investigating what started the fire that raged through multiple apartments inside the building along East 169 Street.
Seven firefighters and another tenant of the building suffered minor injuries.
