Nine puppies were rescued from a home in Gravesend after reports alleging that they were being neglected.
Veterinarians of Oceanside Animal Clinic say the puppies were brought to them extremely malnourished. They say some had ring worm and other parasites.
After seeing a concerned post on the Facebook page of a group for dog lovers and receiving multiple calls, News 12 cameras followed a volunteer from Rescue City to a house where they negotiated with the owner to get the tiny pups out.
Volunteers say three dogs are in critical condition, and some were so skinny that their ribcages could be seen.
News 12 reached out to Animal Care Centers of NYC, which said it sent a field officer to the Gravesend residence. They said they did not find anything to warrant further action at this time.
