The 9/11 Memorial and Museum held its annual Salute to Service tribute on Wednesday, honoring veterans and the families and communities that rally behind them.
The event began with the reopening of the south tower screening room, which had been closed since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. Visitors in the screening room can watch the award-winning short film "Boat Lift," narrated by Tom Hanks.
There will be a naval reenlistment ceremony Thursday on the plaza. A private laying of 250 yellow roses will take place Saturday in honor of the veterans who were killed on 9/11, followed by a silent drill team platoon from the United States Air Force.
