According to AAA, the national average for a gallon of gasoline is expected to fall below $3 for the first time in four years this weekend.
The group says the average price of gasoline has fallen 33 cents in October, landing Friday at $3.00.
Reasons for the decrease include a lower demand than expected, new resources of oil in the U.S. and crude continuing to flow out of the Middle East.
Despite the lower prices, New York residents still pay among the most in the nation for gas.
