A jury found accused cop killer Lee Woods guilty Monday of aggravated murder in the fatal shooting of Detective Russel Timoshenko.

Woods, 31, was also convicted of aggravated attempted murder for injuring Detective Herman Yan and was found guilty on two counts of criminal possession of a weapon. He was acquitted for just one weapons charge for one of three guns found at the scene.

According to Kings County District Attorney Charles J. Hynes, Woods faces life imprisonment when he is sentenced April 2.

Woods was the third man accused in the killing of Timoshenko and the attempted killing of Yan during a 2007 traffic stop. Dexter Bostic was found guilty on all charges, including aggravated murder, aggravated attempted murder and three counts of criminal possession of a weapon. Bostic was sentenced to life in prison without parole.

Robert Ellis was acquitted of murder and attempted murder, but found guilty of criminal possession of a weapon. Ellis is expected to serve 15 years behind bars.

Woods' first trial ended in a mistrial when a juror fell ill and Woods refused to accept a replacement. The second trial's jury deliberated for three days before coming to a verdict.

Timoshenko's family members were relieved Monday when Woods was convicted. Timoshenko's aunt says the entire family feels justice was served in Woods' case.

The prosecution says Woods was acquitted on the third weapons charge because his DNA was found on two of the three guns at the scene. According to Woods' defense attorney, he intends to appeal his sentence.
