Police and the Administration for Children?s Services (ACS) are investigating after the death of a baby in East New York was ruled a homicide.
According to police, 14-month-old Teira Lewis was unresponsive when her 19-year-old mother flagged down a sanitation worker who called 911 around 11:30 p.m. Thursday. The baby was taken to Brookdale Hospital where she was pronounced dead. The coroner says the Lewis died from blunt force trauma to the head.
The death comes just days after police say a 4-month-old baby in Brooklyn died from injuries related to Shaken Baby Syndrome.
