Mayor Eric Adams relaunched his re-election campaign on the steps of City Hall Thursday.
The former Brooklyn Borough president and state senator didn't waste time taking jabs at Queens Assemblymember Zohran Mamdani who declared victory in Democratic mayoral primary.
Adams painted the 33-year-old as inexperienced.
"They have a record of tweets, I have a record on these streets," Mayor Adams said.
He also criticized Mamdani's socialist views.
"This is not a city where you use idealism to state you are giving everything to everyone for free," Adams said. "This is not a city of hand outs its a city of hand ups."
The mayor dropped out of the Democrat primary after facing corruption charges and criticism for his cooperation with the Trump Administration on immigration enforcement.
He is seen as a moderate Democrat and News 12 political expert Christopher Malone said that will play well for him in the November general election.
"He has a strong chance of winning the race, especially with a left Democratic, Democratic Socialist candidate like Mamdani," he said.
Malone said Cuomo would fare worse if former Gov. Andrew Cuomo, who conceded to Mamdani in the primary, decides to run as an independent.
"Cuomo won a lot of the same voters Adams will need to win this election," said Malone.
While Mamdani has declared victory in the democratic primary, the results have not been made official as he must reach the 50% threshold through rank choice voting.
The general election is set for Nov. 4.
