Addiction treatment and research center opens in Calverton

An addiction treatment and research center recently opened in Calverton for people who have a substance use disorder.
The Wellbridge Addiction Treatment and Research Center set up the site in partnership with Northwell Health.
The official opening of the 96-acre campus was moved up in response to the COVID-19 outbreak that Wellbridge says has greatly increased the need for addiction treatment and support for those currently struggling with anxiety and isolation, which are known triggers for relapse.
Wellbridge says that in 2018, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration reported about 21.2 million Americans needed treatment for a substance use disorder.
