Brooklyn's first ever "Adoptapalooza" event was held Saturday at Prospect Park to encourage New Yorkers to adopt a four-legged animal in need of a home.
More than 100 dogs, cats and even some rabbits available for adoption filled Bartel-Pritchard Square.
Several shelters and rescue groups took part in the event, offering pet advice and plenty of freebies.
The event was hosted by the Mayor's Alliance for NYC's Animals.
Organizers say such events are important because they usually wind up finding forever homes for up to 75 percent of the animals.
