Cuts made to the city’s budget have limited the programs that are available to kids, leaving parents scrambling.  

Now, advocates and elected officials are joining forces to call for a restoring of those cut programs. The rally at Bronx Borough Hall on Tuesday had residents and leaders claiming they’ve already felt the impact of these budget cuts.  

Mayor Eric Adams’ call to cut all city department budgets by 5% has meant that programs within the Department of Youth and Community Development and the Department of Education are forced to limit access or end completely.  

Representatives spoke on behalf of Good Shepherd Services, The Campaign for Children and Children’s Aid Society about the need for more programs citywide.  

“Not having these programs will be detrimental to families and young people to have access to the resources they need,” said City Council Member Althea Stevens.  

Those at Tuesday’s rally also say that they are bracing for further budget cuts they expect to come later in the year.
