A plan to build affordable housing on a Park Slope parking lot has left some residents steamed.

The Fifth Avenue Committee, which wants to build the housing at 5th Avenue and 16th Street, says more affordable apartments are needed. The group believes people who make under $30,000, are mentally ill or live in shelters are underserved.

However, residents fear the housing will leave drivers scrambling to find parking spots. They're also worried about safety in the area.

Committee members invite anyone who is worried about safety to visit their other building on Warren Street, where tenants say the organization has helped save their lives.
