The air conditioning has been repaired at Hackensack Meridian Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank after it malfunctioned Wednesday morning.
A spokesperson for the hospital said that two air conditioning units went offline, which impacted the emergency department and the ICU.
Temperatures reached the mid- to upper-90s in parts of New Jersey on Wednesday.
“Our team members immediately began ensuring that our impacted patients were safely moved into unaffected areas of the facility as well as transferring some to neighboring HMH facilities,” the spokesperson said.
Some areas of the hospital remain offline.
“We estimate that service will be fully restored by [Thursday] afternoon,” the spokesperson said.
