Wrong-way driver charged with DWI after stealing beer from gas station, police say

Police say a man has been arrested for DWI after he drove the wrong way in traffic and then stole beer from a Smithtown gas station early this morning.   
According to police, Lance Broussand was driving a 2020 Hyundai Elantra westbound in the eastbound lanes of Veterans Memorial Highway.  
Broussand then stopped at Speedway, located at 522 Smithtown Bypass, where he stole two cases of beer, at approximately 2:30 a.m., police say. Officers apprehended Broussand in the parking lot after he left the store.  
Broussand, 37, of Hauppauge, was charged with DWI and petit larceny.
