This winter hasn’t been kind to our local roads, and many drivers say potholes have been opening on neighborhood streets.
A group of Allerton residents say a sinkhole that was filled Tuesday night is still causing havoc on their block.
Neighbors on Barker Avenue say what started as a pothole within a week, turned into a massive cave-in on their street.
They claim their previous calls to 311 fell on deaf ears - until they decided to reach out to News 12.
News 12 watched portions of the recently-filled crater begin to sink again as car after car drove over the area.
Neighbors say they’ve had to arrange the hazard cones several times to prevent drivers from barreling through.
A worker from the city’s Department of Environment went to the scene Wednesday to inspect the area.
The DEP tells News 12 the work was done as a temporary repair to make the roadway safer for drivers until a permanent solution can be scheduled.
What caused the street to cave-in, DEP says, is still under investigation.
