Members of the local chapter of the American Legion visited the Cypress Hills Cemetery to pay tribute to fallen military heroes for Veterans Day Wednesday.
They also paused to remember active veterans fighting around the world.
"We must thank the servicemen for making it possible for us to have the opportunities that we have here in America," says Valerie Duberry, who attended the ceremony. "For our freedom and the things that we have here in America."
The Cypress Hills Cemetery contains mostly Civil War veterans, but it also holds the remains of World War I, World War II and Korean War veterans.
