The 19th annual Lights on Afterschool event, organized by Good Shepherd Services, was held Thursday in Red Hook.
Good Shepherd's mission is to help kids find their future through after-school programs.
The Lights on Afterschool program is designed to help young people nationwide through a variety of programs that focus on family education and even housing.
In New York alone, more than 14,000 students have participated in Good Shepherd's after-school and community programs. There are 50 programs available for students in Brooklyn.
Thursday's event was just one part of a nationwide effort. Good Shepherd serves over 30,000 children and families nationwide.
