Plenty of sand sculptors were out enjoying Saturday's warm weather as a special contest was held at the Coney Island boardwalk.
The 25th annual Coney Island Sand Sculpting Contest brought some top sculpting professionals and amateurs to the beach.
The contest started in 1990 with 20 families competing. This year was expected to see the biggest turnout, with 100 participants.
Competitors say that the most critical component to sculpting is to use water.
Through sponsorships and donations, the money being raised at the contest will benefit aid services for children and families in Coney Island.
