Another inmate dies at Rikers Island; 11th death reported this year
NYC Correction Commissioner Lynelle Maginley-Lidde said every aspect of the incident will be investigated.

The Department of Corrections confirms that a man in custody at Rikers Island has died.
According to the DOC, officers at the George R. Vierno Center responded to a man in custody having what appeared to be a seizure at around 7:49 p.m. Doctors and EMS responded but man could not be saved and was pronounced dead at 8:35 p.m.
“We share our deepest sympathies with his loved ones,” said the NYC Correction Commissioner Lynelle Maginley-Lidde. “Every aspect of this incident will be investigated.”
This is the 11th death in DOC custody reported this year.
